Trains of Europe

Come with Treyn Holidays on a journey of discovery and watch Europe unfold outside your window.

High speed

With the opening of the new high-speed rail link to St Pancras station, a Continental rail holiday has become closer than ever before, but Eurostar is just the beginning.

The French TGV, the German ICE and the international Thalys services all offer a high-speed rail service in unprecedented comfort.

New stretches of dedicated high-speed track are being opened all the time to allow these super-trains to reach their full potential, often in excess of 180mph.

All of which means that the greatest sights, sounds, tastes and smells of Europe are more quickly and comfortably accessible than ever before.

A slower pace

Sometimes it pays to travel at a slower pace to absorb the ever-changing vistas that unfold outside the window.

Luckily, while traditional InterCity trains may not be as glamorous as their high-speed cousins, they have also benefited from the investments being made by European governments in their rail systems.

New carriages are being built and old ones refurbished at a greater rate than ever before, and a new generation of locomotives is coming into service, making these journeys faster and smoother too.

A civilised way to travel

Rail travel is arguably the most civilised way to visit the Continent. There is plenty of leg room, you can get up to stretch your legs, walk about or visit the buffet car and bar for refreshments, or simply relax in your reserved, comfortable and spacious seat.

Overnight travel

When it comes to clocking up the miles, why not do it while you sleep?

On our History, Culture & Elegance of Vienna, Prague & Berlin holiday, we use the overnight CityNightLine sleeper from Cologne to Vienna allowing us to dine on board on the way down the Rhine, and enjoy a light breakfast as we arrive in our destination. Our accommodation on board is in two-berth compartments with washbasin.
